5 Stars Best HDTV for the Money
Samsung Plasma is the best HDTV for the price on the market. Forget the war between LCD and Plasma. You can not compare the picture qualities between the two. Plasma shows much more depth and natural lighting. The picture looks sharp and real. On the other hand, LCD looks sharp, shallow, and fake – due to little light, and hence, barely lively. Samsung makes the best Plasma for the money. Pioneer makes a little better plasma but cost twice for the same size TV.

3 Stars Great, but still prone to burn in.
The Good:It is a great set for the money. You just can’t touch a good 1080P 120-240Hz LCD or LED t.v. in this size for this price range. There are plenty of connections, although if you have a 50″ t.v. you really just need one hdmi input and maybe an optical out if you need to run sound back to a decent receiver. The picture quality is amazing when watching Blu Ray movies or other 1080p sources.

The Neutral: Which brings me to the sound. Other people have taken marks off for the sound of the built-in speakers. I haven’t found them to be that bad considering they are in the back of the t.v. for aesthetic purposes. Speakers are always going to sound muffled when they are facing away from you. I would say again, if you have a t.v. this big you should also invest in a decent receiver and a set of speakers. You can’t get the full theater effect with the two little speakers that come on any t.v. you purchase. The built in speakers in this t.v. are adequate for watching the news or other programs where surround sound isn’t going to greatly improve the viewing experience anyway.

The Bad: The plasma sets are still having issues with burn in. I didn’t realize it was such a problem until I unpacked this and skimmed through my manual. In the very front of the manual it tells you things that can cause burn in. It covers almost every use you could think of for a t.v. Off the top of my head, here were some of the things that were included:

- Watching a t.v. show with a channel logo or stock ticker (all the cable news channels have tickers)

- Playing video games (Think of title screens, pause screens, and in game stat bars)

- Using the t.v. as a computer monitor (This is probably the worst since there are almost always parts of your screen that will stay the same for long periods of time.)

- Watching DVDs (I am assuming they are referring to leaving it on the title screen either while getting all you snacks and stuff ready or falling asleep during the movie and letting the title screen stay on after it is over.)

All of the aforementioned activities will void your warranty for screen burn in. So basically, if you get screen burn-in they aren’t going to cover it. Both of the stars I took off were for this reason. If I spend this kind of money on something that is strictly for entertainment I want to be able to thoroughly enjoy using it at all times and not have to worry that by playing my favorite game for a few hours I could permanently destroy my screen. It takes the enjoyment out of it when you are constantly paranoid about burn in.

There are a couple of things that this set can do to help prevent burn in. There is the pixel shift which can shift the picture up to 4 pixels away and do so as frequently as once per minute. I have this set on the max and I have not noticed the shift yet even when looking for it. The problem with this solution is that many stationary images are going to have bars that are a lot bigger than 4 pixels in any direction. So even with the shift, the same color will most likely be on any given pixel in that area.

The other tool they provide you with is a screen wipe that you can run through the remote that will scroll different shades of black and white across the screen in what I would describe as a digital eraser. I tried it last night after playing Fallout 3 for a few hours and being paranoid that the life bar would burn in to the screen. It seemed to work well and it’s possible if you use that at the first sign of burn in that you could prevent permanent damage. Again, it’s just something that you shouldn’t have to worry about constantly.

5 Stars Great TV, (believe me) poor sound
I used to own a consumer electronics repair shop representing several brands. The following are my thoughts regarding this Samsung HDTV set.

1. Excellent picture quality. Cannot ask for better.

2. Poor sound. Speakers seem to small for the task of main speakers. Suitable for voice (news).

3. Lack of a s-video input connector.

4. Lack of multichannel (eg. 5.1) sound from the optical audio connector. Only two channels will output.

5. Closed captions only available with sources connected thru the RF connector.

6. In my case, incompatibility with my Scientific Atlanta DVR (cable) when using HDMI. The TV will force the HD programming to 480i. I had to connect the DVR using the Component Video inputs.

I still rated this HDTV as five stars because I think that the main function of a TV set is to show a great picture. No doubt, this HDTV set excels in that. Also, there are many others good and useful features in this set that I didn’t mentioned that make the few drawbacks in the above list bearable.

Note: Screen burn-in is a fact of life with all plasma displays. This set has features to help minimize it.

5 Stars good TV, great PQ,
I spent a lot of time researching before purchasing this TV. I was on the border line between LCD and Plasma, but finally I pulled the trigger to buy this set. Over all this is a great TV with a beautiful PQ. However, there are a few flaws such as buzzing, making noise when turn on/off. AFAIK, all plasmas make noise while operating, with this set the buzzing is really noticeable at night when the volume is low; maybe I’m too sensitive. Also, when turning on/off the TV there’s a weird noise from the back. Nevertheless, for the price that I got ($925) with free shipping and no tax, it’s a great deal.

5 Stars Samsung Plasma HDTV
After reading several reviews we decided to purchase this TV from Amazon because of the cost. The product is just what we wanted. The company shipped it and set it up for us. Its great. It takes up less space than our previous 50 inch television, so there is more space for us in the living room.

5 Stars Old School
I do not have a source for HD, but simply wanted a nice big flat screen for regular satellite TV. I found this one to be very adequate. Other reviews knock the sound quality a little. I found it to be less than fantastic, but not bad at all. The only disappointment I had was the “sound leveler”. I thought it would eliminate loud commercials and variations between channels. Apparently it was not designed to do this.

3 Stars Panasonic viera
I purchased this to replace my 36″ sony xbr—-Certaintly the price was a key factor-I paid $774 which was fine but the set does not have the picture quality I had expected–The old sony picture was clearer and crisper-

The hi definition channels are teriffic but your everyday ones are only ordinary-You get what you pay for and for the money it is fine but next time I will spend more and get the quality of picture I want

1 Star Bad experience buying this TV from Amazon.
This review is for the process of buying this TV from Amazon. I know some of you only want reviews about the TV, however this review is for the bad experience I had buying it from Amazon.

Ordered the TV from Amazon on Wednesday for a very good price. Was notified on Friday via text that the tv would be delivered that day. Checked the status at Amazon and it stated “Action Required from Customer” . I called them and told them that I had not been contacted. They said we will call you later to schedule an appointment…I called them back later that day and asked about the status and they scheduled me for Monday between 12-3. I made arrangements to be home at that time. Well Monday at 12 they called and stated that they could not deliver it that day it would be be one more day. I again made arrangements to be home during their deliver window. Well at 11:30 the shipping company Pilot called and said they would be at my home at 12:20. They arrived at 1:30….Then they opened the box and the screen was broken. They took the TV away. Then I received a text that my order had been delivered. Now Amazon said I should receive my TV next Wednesday (8 more days). Skip this hassle and buy somewhere else.

5 Stars Beautiful TV for an Amazing Price!!!
Wow, is all I can say for the price and quality of this product. I’m very happy.

5 Stars Best Value for the MONEY!!!!
I was renting this TV thru a rent-a-type place paying $140 a month before I purchased this thru amazon. Let me tell you this TV is the best deal since EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!! I did order thru amazon paid $789 and when it arrived the screen was CRACKEd. I was so mad. I waited a week for this TV to arrive and it came broke. I called up amazon and the lady told me they would rush ship me another one. I asked how long should it take, and she said about a week. I told here what kind of rush shipping is that, as I waited a week for the first one to arrive. She then said she could do nothing. Could not even credit me something for this inconvenience. Horrible customer serveice on this AMAZON deal. If I knew it would take 2 weeks to arrive I would have gone to WOLLY WORLD!!!

I love my Purchase. It looks great. The internal sound kinda sucks but when I get my external surround set up it will be fine. Great for TV and gaming.

5 Stars Great Picture
This TV has a great picture. I did a lot of research before selecting plasma. I really don’t have problems with it being too dim, looks great. Lots of threads on [...] about how to break in and change picture settings to get best looking picture. Amazon customer service is great! If you are on the fence go for it!

4 Stars Fantastic tv with fantastic price
im really happy with this plasma for how much i paid for it, the color is AMAZING, the THX take you movie watching experience to the next level.

4 Stars Solid TV
Overall I’m pretty happy with my purchase of the Panasonic TC-P46G10. Sports (especially football and baseball games) look great on this thing. Movies look great too except the motion quality isn’t top notch. Don’t get me wrong, it’s good. But this is a G10 model, not a V10. Here are my pros/cons…

Pros:

- Competitive price.

- Excellent clarity and color quality.

- Great for gaming (very minor phosphour trails).

- Minimal Glare.

- Built-in burn-in retention (I fell asleep to a blu-ray and the menu screen was on the screen all night and there was not even a trace of burn-in).

Cons:

- Motion quality is not quite as smooth as 120hz or 240hz technology, or the V10’s 96hz.

- The 48hz feature is worthless, the flicker is unbearable.

- The screen smudges super easily, but fortunately comes with a special cloth to clean the screen.

Bottom line.. Great bang for your buck!

5 Stars Great T.V.
46 inch Panasonic G10. I was able to schedule the delivery without extra cost and they set it up in just a few minutes. Amazing TV. Using ATT U-Verse TV and Internet. HD channels are simply amazing. For those buying from Amazon.com (which is what I recommend). Wait for the Panasonic Blu-ray special if that is important to you. It showed up 2-3 days after I purchased the T.V. Sometimes you have to click “reload” on your browser several times before it shows up in the “Special offers” section. A lot of other sites have this T.V. for a few bucks cheaper but Amazon’s customer service is probably the best, just in case you get a “bad” item. Great service, great price. Anyone will be pleased with this T.V.

High definition is more than mere pixels. It’s all about visual quality. Plasma TV offers higher contrast and deeper color than LCD screens. With a screen at a class of 65″, you’ll observe a new concept of HDTV entertainment that rivals anything else. Why go to the movies when you’ve got this Viera TV! The Panasonic TC-P58S1 65″ Class Viera S1 Series Plasma 1080p HDTV brings a giant 64.7-inch class (diagonal) wide screen to bring sports, movies, and TV into your home with in-your-face realism. LCD is lighter in weight and a little more energy efficient but, when it comes to visual quality, most LCD screens seem pale in comparison. That’s why, when it comes to appreciating the qualities of HDTV and Blu-Ray, this Panasonic Viera plasma TV is a better buy. There are also some distinct features worth appreciating. 600Hz technology lets you view superb full-HD motion and still images with 1,080 lines of resolution (per APDC). For even greater clarity with motion images, Panasonic uses its own unique image-analysis technology. This technology converts the motion in each scene into data. And each frame is practically displayed for a shorter length of time than in previous systems, to reduce aftereffects. It’s easy to view full-HD images with the SD card slot. Watch and show your photos right after you take them. Simply insert an SD card into VIERA to display photos on the large screen. You can also choose from among 3 types of background music and 4 display effects. It’s much more fun when you can view them on a large-screen HDTV with family and friends in 1920 x 1080-pixel high definition and a wide 16:9 aspect ratio.
5 Stars Just one word … WOW!
I have had this 65 inch plasma since 10/1/2009. So far everything has been outstanding, from the great price I got at the time and the white glove delivery service. They set up the TV in my media room, hooked it up, turned it on and WOW!

My TV is installed in a windowless room, and the picture is out of this world. I see absolutely no reason to have it professionally calibrated as the picture is outstanding. The picture is more than bright enough, even in a well lit room, if you need to up the brightness and contrast. There are no reflections, but then again I watch with no lights on … the 65 inch screen provides enough light.

I am glad I went with the 65 inch model … my other choice was the 58V model … and I am glad I went with the 65S model. The picture is breathtaking … almost 3D at times. Great depth … great and viberant colors, and the picture clarity is awesome with high definition input.

With my Cable, the HD channels are awe inspiring, and I am glad there are a lot of them as the standard definition channels are no match to them, and after watching hours of HD channels I don’t even want to watch the standard channels anymore.

So far no problems with the set, and I am 100% satisfied with the TV, Amazon, the price I paid, and the delivery. All in all a truely wonderful experience.

My room size is 16 foot by 19 foot with 10 foot ceilings, and I currently sit about 14 feet away from the screen. Anything less than 65 inches would have disappointed me.

Don’t worry about 65 inches being too big in a room this size, it isn’t. And don’t worry about professional calibration services as I see absolutely nothing wrong with the picture.

5 Stars Awesome Bargain
Seriously? I have had this tv for 2 hours and am in awe. Delivery went perfectly and the delivery guys were courteous and got everything hooked up fast.

5 Stars I am never leaving the house!
I hooked up the satellite equipment, hooked up my stereo, plugged it in, and WHOA! I just sit there for hours staring at it. I can just imagine how it will look when I turn it on! JK! I couldn’t have asked for more. It is so beautiful. The picture is as clear as I could ask for. Sometimes it’s almost 3D. Honestly, I was dozing off and there was a show on about space exploration and for a second when I woke up I thought I was in the cockpit of the spaceship soaring through space. It took me a few seconds to get back to the reality that I was looking at the TV, lol. Blu-ray really shines on this TV! This is by far one of the most amazing things I’ve every owned.

5 Stars Plasma never looked better
To put my review in perspective, I work for a major Hollywood studio and am pretty much a high quality freak when it comes to watching movies. I have about 500 DVDs at home, 150 of those are bluray.

I upgraded from a very decent 58″ DLP so I really wanted something that wasn’t just big, but also had great quality. I did a lot of research and frankly when reading through reviews I get the impression many of the positive ones are from people who upgraded from very old TVs and were just impressed that their new one was so much nicer. Not very helpful IMHO. So I went to several stores and looked at anything I could find to get a real overview of what is the standard today rather than comparing it to my 3 year old TV.

After weeks I finally ordered this unit and was still a little worried. Now that’s its up on my wall and hooked up to my system I have to say I’m 100% happy! The image quality is stunning, crisp and shows every little detail you can get from a good bluray disk. Slow and subtle motion is smooth and fast action has no artifacts. When using a PS3 (which does a great job upconverting) even standard DVDs look pretty good. I’m not saying this is the best screen on the market, but let’s be fair and consider the size and the price. I don’t think you can find a better quality 65″ screen for this price.

Another aspect I was a little worried about was the noise from the 4 vans on the back, but they run at such low rpm that you will not hear them. That used to be a big issue on my old DLP.

Reflection on screen from a lit room is also limited. I expected this to be more of an issue and again, I was positively surprised how little reflection is visible.

The stand that comes with it works great, but most people will hang it on the wall. The weight is not too crazy. I expected it to be much heaver considering the size. I can highly recommend this wall mount:

http://www.amazon.com/Sanus-VMPL3-B-Mount-Displays-Black/dp/B0008GP880/ref=pd_sim_e_63

I won’t go over all the technical data and inputs, you can look all that up on Panasonic’s web site. I just want to mention that I really like that the third HDMI input is conveniently placed on the side along with a standard video input and the SD card slot. That makes it easy to hook a video camera up or watch some photos.

I highly recommend this TV if you want a good size but still don’t want to spend too much money.

There may be better plasma sets out there, but for the price we are very pleased withe overall quality of this Panasonic. It’s turning out to be a great TV for movies and games.

When it comes to best image quality in a TV at an affordable range, Plasma screens deliver the best contrast ratio and color depth. This Viera plasma includes the new NEO plasma display panel with improved blacks and native contrast of 40,000:1. Neo PDP combines advances for plasma in cell structure, process technology, and new drive technology. Neo PDP is eco-friendly. It’s engineered to save power and double the luminance efficiency. It offers thinner screens than previous plasma flat panels. NEO technology screens are rated to have a lifespan of up to 100,000 hours. This is more than 30 years of viewing when watched for 8 hours a day, before the TV reaches half brightness. It also has 1080p resolution with 600Hz sub-field drive and Gaming Mode. With all these advances, why settle for an average picture when the Viera plasma display offers so much more. Did you know that some HDTVs deliver considerably less than 1080 lines of resolution, when processing fast motion on screen? VIERA S1 Series Plasma HDTVs ensure full-time 1080 TV lines of resolution, even during fast moving scenes in sports and movies. VIERA Image Viewer provides a better way to share your digital photos. Just pop your SD memory card into the handy slot, and instantly display your digital photos for friends and family to enjoy. With VIERA Link, you can control your compatible Panasonic DVD recorder, Blu-ray Disc player, home-theater sound system and HD camcorder, all with a single remote and helpful on-screen menus.
5 Stars Dollar for Dollar This is the Best Plasma TV You’ll Find
I own and love 50″ Pioneer (purchased two years ago) and this bedroom TV is almost as good for 1/3 the price. The delivery was quick and the set up was easy for this mechanically incompetent knucklehead. My only mistake was not buying an HDMI cable at the same time. I spent $50 for one at Radio Shack and later saw Amazon had one for $9.00!! You cannot go wrong, on any level, with this purchase from Amazon.

5 Stars Excellent Tv choice.
Purchased to replace my 40-inch samsung lcd. My lcd got a black line down the screen after the warranty was up so I went with plasma this time and what a difference. This tv is amazing. Has everything I need and the picture is great.

3 Stars Good but I expected better with all the Panasonic-plasma hype
I really shouldn’t complain…but why not? We have a Sony 46in 1080p, 2 yrs. old ($1,600 then), mid-level model. Image quality of HD stuff (Verizon FIOS, only transmits 1080i currently)knocks me out. Picture has resolution, detail, brightness, color..almost a feeling that you walk through the damn screen into the scene, a depth and ’solidity’ to objects, just breathtaking. And I haven’t gotten tired of the experience. (I do not work for SONY, no other disclosures). So for my 70th birthday, I decided to get a plasma 40-42in 1080p to watch “my stuff”: plasma picture is better, blacks this, color that, price. So I get the S1 and the picture doesn’t measure up to the SONY. I’ve adjusted/played with the modes, adjusted the brightness, saturation, sharpness parameters, etc., and only with some material, here and there, do I get the ‘SONY’ experience. Unfair comparison? Any Ideas?

1 Star Buyer Beware!
I am so disappointed to be giving this horrible review. I have been a long time Amazon shopper and this is my first bad experience. I cannot really fault Amazon, the problem lies solely with Panasonic, yet I am surprised this problem was not mentioned in user reviews which I rely heavily on.

I settled on this plasma set after six week of intensive research and visits to local retailers to see the model and talk to unbiased salespeople. Third party reviews by CNET confirmed that this set has the best picture quality of anything in its price range and handily outperforms comparable LCD models.

I received my set in two days from Sixth Avenue.com (through Amazon) and after setting it up found to my horror, the dreaded 7 blinking light signal. No picture whatsoever. Upon googling the problem I realized this has been a major problem with Panasonic sets for some time. My complaints were channeled from Amazon customer service, to 6th Ave, to Panasonic, and lastly to a local service company contracted by Panasonic. Two days later a technician diagnosed three failed parts and tells me it could take anywhere between two days and sixty! days to get parts. I am basically stuck with a brand new useless television occupying my living room.

I still believe this set is a superior product, once it gets up and running. The service tech convinced me that once fixed the chances of a reoccurrence of the problem are very low, and if it performs well for the first year, the chances of failure later on are also quite low. So, I am twiddling my thumbs and trying to cope with this dilemma. Had I purchased this product from a local store I would be able to demand an exchange. Since it was ordered on line and shipped, the company refuses to exchange it. Buyer beware.

4 Stars pretty good tv for the money
The Panasonic S1 series is a pretty good overall tv. the only thing I’m not a huge fan of is the anti-glare screen. the anti-glare is definatly noticably less reflective then your standard gloss plasma screen but the standard high gloss screen gives a little better picture. I have this tv in a basement and it would have been better with the gloss screen. If you have a moderatley lit room but want a plasma then this would be perfect for you. I cant coment on the sound as i’ve never herd the tv’s speakers I have evything run straight to a hometheater system. I would recomend this tv to a friend looking for a 40+” tv under $1000.

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars I LOVE THIS LCD TV!
The 52″ Sony 1280P, 240Hz LCD HDTV replaces my 50″ Panasonic 1280I Plasma HDTV monitor, and is everything I wanted in a new big screen TV. The Plasma had a great picture in most conitions, but required a dimly lit room for best viewing, was prone to screen “sparkle” distortion in the blades of grass of football fields & herring bone/tight patterened clothing, and would blur high speed images watching sports. The Sony is far brighter, displays no “sparkle effect”, and is crysal clear no matter what you are watching. Skin colors – especially skin tones – are as good as it gets. The matt screen surface is a huge improvement from background reflections that plauged the shinny surface of the Panasonic. I still prefer to have the blinds drawn & lights dimmed to limit screen reflection, but at least I now the picture is watchable in daylight even with the blinds open. I leave the auto-dimming mode OFF even at night, cuz I prefer the bright “clear as if you are there” image over the “faded/washed out” look when using the auto screen dimmer in darkened rooms.

I bought the 240 Hz version of the Sony Bravia from Amazon.com because it was NOT avaliable at [...], SAMS CLUB, or Wallmart stores – or their on-line websites. Only the 120 Hz version of the Sony Bravia was available, but all 120 Hz LCD HDTV sets are being phased out (to be replaced by 240+ Hz LCD/LED machines). After taxes, it would have cost me as much I paid for the 240Hz version!

I bought the Panasonic thru Amazon.com about 4 years ago and was very pleased with the price I paid ($1800), no taxes, and free shipping, no hassles. It was in the top two HDTVs’ for picture quality at the time. In both cases the items shipped safely from the East Coast to San Diego in about a week. It may be faster & more convienient to buy a HDTV locally (if you could even find one you want), but you will pay a high premium in local taxes and/or shipping charges. In this case the 240Hz version was NOT avaliable from the big box discounters. I shopped around & did my homework. I trust Amazon.com, got a great price, and highly recommend buying high buck electronics from them.

5 Stars Dazzled!
I couldn’t be more pleased with this purchase. With an excellent picture and sound, it’s everything I expected and more. Amazon’s television delivery service is outstanding. The packaging and television arrived in perfect condition and the delivery people could not have been more accommodating to my needs.

5 Stars Don’t be afraid to buy from AMAZON
I got this Tv last week from Amazon. Was delivered 2 days before prommised on web time. Chicago area driver was great. Set up tv for us and made sure IT WORKED RIGHT. He was even careful that bottom of box(didn’t look dirty to me) didn’t soil my carpet.

I don’t have The HD connection from Direct Tv yet and this Tv still looks good. We have many large windows in our room and there is very little refection on the screen. Lots on trim around edges.

Don’t wait just push the submit order and enjoy .

5 Stars Excellent!
Removed it from the box, plugged it in, set it up and works great! Amazon is great! Ordered it Sunday and was watching it Friday!

4 Stars A Great TV, but
my house got broken into and my 52v4100 was stolen. so i bought 52z5100. everything works perfectly except the audio. i can only listen to tv speakers or audio system. it cannot be both. my dad has hearing problems. he wants to keep the volume at a comfortable level for our family so that he normally uses wireless headset to listen to. He was able to do it on the old TV 52V4100 but not this Z5100. who is the engineer who could have thought about this STUPID idea and sony even adopted it.

other than that, it is a good TV, as always.

Inspired by designs from the automotive and fashion industries, Samsung’s molding process eliminates the need for glue or screws to construct the television cabinets. The result is an LCD HDTV with a clean, smooth finish infused with a hint of a translucent color. The Ultra Clear Panel was developed by Samsung to further reduce glare in difficult lighting conditions and enable optimum picture viewing. A layer of organic particles in the panel reduces reflection even more than the original super clear panel to provide remarkably improved clarity.Technological enhancement to the image rendering continues with the company’s Wide Color Enhancer 2 and DNIe Pro, which is the generation of Samsung’s Digital Natural Image Engine. DNIe Pro eliminates noise while also boosting contrasts and sharpening edges on fast moving, Full HD images. With Samsung’s Wide Color Enhancer 2, images are saturated with vivid, natural color due to the expanded range of color expression. The crystal design also incorporates Samsung’s recently developed down-firing speakers, which replaces older duct-style speakers to produce a more balanced sound dynamic in a wider frequency range that will thrill movie and game lovers.

2 Stars Died after 4 days…
Yep 4 days in… while watching the final Pirates of the Caribbean movie, one long horizontal strip of pixels flickered then went black. Permanently. I loved the TV up to this point and I have been extremely careful about leaving it on and/or pausing the images for too long. Getting the exact model scares me at this point since it didn’t even last 4 full days. I’m waiting to see how Amazon handles this situation and I will update my review/post accordingly. Wish me luck, Amazon is usually great.

5 Stars Excellent Value
I bought this TV 3 weeks ago and couldn’t be happier. You will enjoy the beautiful picture quality more than ever knowing you made a SMART purchase. It’s really a great time to buy price-wise, considering that to get a set with a similar quality picture in the past, you can add about $1,000 to the price for every year you go back. Looking forward, you could wait to spend more $ for LED or OLED picture technology (once these are mainstreamed) or you could wait for better internet connectivity, or other incremental improvements. Who cares. The day when you can get 1080p resolution, 3,000,000:1 contrast, and flawless color reproduction for around $1,000 has arrived. And it’s glorious!

5 Stars astounding picture!
This television has a beautiful picture. I could not be happier. If you are on the fence between lcd and plasma, take this tv home and you won’t be dissapointed. The colors are amazing, and there is zero motion blur when watching sports or action scenes. The built-in widgets are nice, especially the Monet paintings with the piano track in the background. The only negative is that you have to buy a separate wireless lan to access the online content. I wish the wi-fi was built in, but it is perfect otherwise. You get so much more tv per inch with this plasma versus a samsung lcd of comparable size.

5 Stars Worth the Investment
This was the second PN50B650 that I have purchased. One for my own home 8+ months ago and then one for another family member because I was so pleased with the first one. I did quite a bit of research prior to purchasing the first set and then additional research before the second purchase and I don’t think that I could have found a better unit for the price.

Purchased both from Amazon, they had the best price and the free shipping was great too. The second unit was initially received damaged, and the folks from Amazon got right on sending me another one, no complaints except that it was another two weeks or so for delivery, there was no way to ship faster because of the size. I was very pleased with how they handled the issue.

You can find all the TV’s spec’s elsewhere, take away from this review that there are a lot of good choices out there and if I had not been really really pleased with the first set, I would have tried something different. This set is well worth your (and my) investment.

1 Star Samsung Faulty Power Control Boards! Beware!
The internet tech and review sites are full of hundreds/thousands of unsatisfied customers that have had problems with both hdmi ports failing (causing vertical green lines to appear on the TV screen), and power boards that have faulty capacity resistors that conveniently fail 14 months to 24 months after puchase (after the 1 year warranty is up).

I have a tv that has had two hdmi ports and power board fail 16 months after purchase.

The power board failure is the worst because it causes the tv to not even turn on. Unfortunately Samsung is choosing to use cheap/old resistors that the manufacturer said to stop using back in 1999 (this is about a $2.50 savings per tv for Samsung) – serious mis-calculation by their engineering design team or supply chain purchasing.

The board and tech service will cost you $450 to repair.

I’m never buying Samsung ever again.

5 Stars Excellent TV
I have now had my set for about a month. Straight out of the box the picture was stunning. I applied some custom picture settings as per avsforum suggestions and I am exceptionally happy. After about a month now it seems the set has really warmed up and the picture seems even more rich and stunning. The overall size of 54 inches is just right for my room, not too big, definitely not too small. I was on the fence for a year to upgrade and almost bought the 58″ panny last year. I am glad I waited as I think the 58 would have been a bit too large. About my only complaint is that I am really having a hard time loving ANYTHING in SD now. Since everything is that much bigger, SD content is just not acceptable anymore. Hopefully Dish will continue to upgrade my HD offerings. Some HD feeds are obviously of inferior quality to others. My locals, for instance, sometimes are not up to par, vs ESPN which always seems to have a stunning HD feed.

I was a little surprised to know that this unit has no cooling fans, but so far heat coming off the unit has been minimal and not concerning. Actually a fan might have increased the noise at low volumes. I have read others who dislike the sound from the set, but I think it is acceptable. I did not like the bass boost option as it added an unnatural electronic hum to peoples voices, so with that off the sound is fine to me. I do occasionally run it through my receiver for regular TV viewing, but not usually. I connected the tv through my broadband connection and find the VieraCast feature interesting but is not something I use regularly by any means. Maybe this will improve with future updates or as new content is made available. It took a little experimenting to find which picture mode I like best, but overall I use a Custom mode to view sports, and the THX mode to watch most everything else.

Great TV, you won’t be dissapointed by purchasing this. Panasonic continues to be a leader in plasma technology!

4 Stars beautiful picture but no pip
Love the picture quality, but I assumed new tvs this size came with picture in a picture. This one does not. Not a big deal, but I am very surprised.

5 Stars So far so good.
The G10 is exactly what I expected: sharp picture with great black levels. Furthermore, the anti-reflective screen is much more effective than on some of the previous models of Panasonic plasma tvs. Highly recommended.

5 Stars Panasonic G10 54″ plasma T.V.
Great t.v. I did a lot of research and so far I am glad that I made this choice. I went on [...] and found some great comparison statistics and reviews.

LCD is cheaper for a reason – plasma is the way to go.

We originally planned on mounting the t.v. on the wall but it looks so good on the stand that we decided to buy a new piece of furniture for it to sit on!

I fully recommend this t.v.

I feel like I got a good deal by buying through Amazon because they give you several options of vendors around the country who have shown the lowest prices.

5 Stars Outstanding!!!!!!!!
After doing copious research for over a year, going to stores and comparing, surfing the net, I settled on two brands, Pioneer and Panasonic. The Pana won out for price though Pioneer made the best TV on the planet. I also bought a Harmon Kardon 354 AVR. I have the Klipsch Reference speakers and a yamaha sub. My 18 year old computer wiz son hooked it up, set it up and we were watching high def TV.

Even the news looks great on this thing, but it wasn’t until I played my first Blu ray that I really experienced what this thing could do. I am avoiding all the technical terms because most folks don’t know or care about all that stuff as a rule or even understand it. I can say this the HDMI format makes it all possible. I have been into home theater a long time and this TV just took it to another level. Do yourself the favor, take the plunge, you will be glad you did.

5 Stars good television at a great price…
Me and my wife shopped around a lot before we decided to buy a new tv. We seen a lot of good tv’s at decent prices, but most of them did not have the hook-up for the pc. The G10 is everything we were looking for in a new tv, and Amazon gave it to us at the best price. We are very pleased with the picture quality and the sound quality of the HD.

5 Stars incredible 5 stars doesnt do the picture justice
wow anyone considering plasma line put the specs on this up against almost any 1600 to 2800 $ tv and you will be blown away 600 mhz 2,000,000 dynamic contrast ratio i went to the store to look at 240 mhz led backlit lcds saw pixels and motion blur with only a 50,00 hour screen life vs panny’s 100,00 hour a complete no brainer bought through amazon love u guys oh and and few things not mentioned online seems to have volume leveling no more chasing volume buttons on commercials and digital optical audio out also firmware updates available via ethernet cord worried about that but didn’t need to congratulations panasonic only reason 4 stars for ease of use is onboard buttons sort of awkward location behind right side edge of panel need to kind of lean around the edge to see what u r doing probably just take some getting used to ALSO IF YOU PLUG THIS TV INTO A UNGROUNDED OUTLET AFTER YOUR FIRMWARE UPDATE IE TO GET ONLINE IT WILL LOCKUP COMPLETELY

5 Stars Panasonic TC-P42G10 Plasma HDTV
I waited until we owned this Panasonic TC-P42G10 Plasma TV for a few months before reviewing. Picture quality is just phenomenal! Along with the picture being extremely sharp the colors on screen are brilliant and vivid thanks to the black level on this TV which really makes the picture pop. I researched for weeks before purchasing this HDTV to find the best quality picture for the money and thus far we have not been disappointed. My only regret is not purchasing the 50 or 54″ version of this TV. If you are looking to purchase an outstanding quailty HDTV at a great price point you can’t go wrong here.

I read many are articles about Plasmas and one thing I believe everyone should NOT do is adjust their contrast above a level of 50 until they have at least 100 hours of use. I adjusted my contrast to 48 and it is still set at that level today. At some point in the future I may adjust our contrast level higher but for now picture is sharp and images pop with the level at 48.

I purchase alot from Amazon but I had reservations about purchasing a large piece of Electronics from them because of the individual shipping involved. I have vistited a couple of FedEx sorting facilities and have seen flat screen TV’s laying on their side with other packages stacked on them. Those images, burned into my mind, made it really hard for me to order the TV online knowing that shipping would be involved and how well the carries handle our packages. I read that Amazon uses CEVA Logistics for shipping and I researched them and I did not find very many good reviews from either Dell or Amazon users. I ordered anyway because we get 30 days to return items. I placed my order and believe it or not 2 days later I had my TC-P42G10 set up in my home. I did however go to the CEVA shipping office to pick up my set. I wanted to check out the facitity like I did for FedEx to see how they handle their freight. To my suprise the facility was well organized and each and every package, which they were all large, was placed on shelves and storage racks. I saw no boxes stacked on each other and everything was well organized. I picked up my TV and there was not even so much as a scratch on the box!!!… I was very impressed with the CEVA shipping company and I would not hesitate to buy large Electronics from Amazon knowing that they use CEVA. CEVA gets and A+ in my book, FedEx gets a B- at best and UPS gets a C at best.

Bottom Line: IMHO you definately can’t go wrong when purchasing a Panasonic TC-PxxG10 TV. You will love the exceptional Picture quality, I can’t speak to the sound of the TV because I have a home theater system and we don’t buy these TV’s for their sound. For me shipping is not a concern after visiting the CEVA shipping office and my experience with this purchase.

5 Stars Awesome at the right Price
This tv is the best I’ve ever owned. The blacks are black and the reds are right where they’re supposed to be. It’ what I expected from Pansonic because I have owned them before and they always produce a good product.I watch a lot of football and the picture keeps up with the action.

The delivery by Amazon was terrific. They called beforehand on delivery day and asked if they could come early. When the fella got here he set it up, showed me some of the features and left.Total elapsed time:15 min.

5 Stars Best flat panel HDTV you can buy for anywhere near the price!
I recently bought this tv and the experience has been great all around. The tv itself is completely amazing. The picture quality is jaw dropping, with beautiful colors, deep blacks and amazingly vivid detail. I have seen lots of other HDTVs (including ones I have owned) and this tv beats them all hands down. I really couldn’t be happier with the quality of the picture this tv produces. All of the reviews were spot on in this regard.

The external aesthetic look of the tv is also very nice. It looks classy and the build quality seems a step above.

The experience of ordering from Amazon was simply a pleasure. I ordered the tv on a Monday night and received it early Thursday morning, only a little over two days later. I couldn’t believe how fast it got to me. The price was great and the tv got to me in perfect condition. Amazon is the best.

I couldn’t be happier with the tv or the buying experience. A+++

5 Stars great 1080P for sub $1000
I have gone through sony 51″ rear projection(we donated it to charity), SONY 42″ grand wega LCD projection and 2 32″ vizio 720p LCD. this panel is outstanding with no halo effects, no SDE, no pixelization on 1080i as well as 1080p sources. I paid $999 at best buy and they threw in panasonic BD80 blue ray player for $120. what a deal. I watched valkyrie, iron man, and dark knight on this one and it blows other TV’s away. the black levels are outstanding. there seems to be natural color tone and picture production compared any LCD TV’s. Eventhough I am energy concious, we only watch this TV for movies and games (I don’t have cable/satellite). Over the air reception is fantastic. it picks up channels in basement that my 32″ can’t upstairs. I have been a big fan of panasonic products ranging from shavers to phones to DVD players to TV for 20 yrs. they seem to have held their quality over the years. thanks a lot for all the 5 stars for previous reviewers. that made my decision easy. almost like the audience in who wants to be millionaire.

4 Stars Great tv for what it is. Not for those who want more.
I recently just got this tv at Sears for a tv/360 bundle they was doing for $999. Over all I’m happy with the tv. The picture quality is amazing with high def stuff compared to my old Samsung tv. Though my Samsung was great, it was starting to go after only 2 years.

Cnet gave this tv (of different sizes) a good rating. Which I pretty much agree with. but they said that the 42″ version had a greener tint to low def video (cable, dvd). Well the 50″ version seems to have a red tint to it rather then a green tint.

AS for features. Its pretty lacking in. This is a tv for those who just want to watch high def movies/tv. With no PC connection, you’re having to connect your computer through the hdmi ports which can be a frustrating to do.

The speakers sound quality is not that good. My old samsung had better ones. This is a tv you want to use surround sound with for just about everything.

Over all I am happy with this tv for the price I paid for it.

5 Stars Great TV, Best picture
This set has an utterly fantastic picture. I compared it to many other TVs, including the top of the line Sony LCD, and this TV still came out on top. For the moderate price, this TV is an outstanding buy, and you can’t get a BETTER picture at any price.

1 Star Can’t recommend due to prominent dead pixel…
I purchased this TV at Sears, and thought that I had gotten a phenomenal deal (at least compared to my brother who bought a nice 2008 model 8 months prior for about $500 more). Unfortunately, after I purchased the television and brought it home, I didn’t have a chance to watch it much the first month I owned it (and Sears has a 30 day return policy). After several hours of viewing, however, I noticed a prominent green pixel in the “Sweet Spot” of the television. Now, it seems that this nefarious dead pixel is all I can focus on while watching this television. While watching football we even call the green pixel the 12th defender, or the 3rd tight end on occasion, as it seems to figure prominently on many plays on both sides of the ball.

Now, I am no expert on dead pixels, but I’ve started to research it a bit more, and I do think that manufacturers are doing customers a disservice by attempting to utilize ISO tolerances as an excuse not to fix something they market as a premium product. My complaint to Panasonic’s Plasma Concierge service has so far fallen on deaf ears. I’ve started to research pixel fixing techniques, and I am not sure whether this pixel is dead or merely “stuck.” None have worked so far. If I am able to resolve my dead pixel problem through one of these techniques or through Panasonic Plasma Concierge, I’ll update my review accordingly. I really like this TV but for the green goblin that is my dead pixel friend. Until then, however, I can’t give it any more than 1 star.

4 Stars great picture, great tv for the price, few features
The picture is terrific. The colors were great even out of the box. The TV itself looks very stylish, though the stand is very basic. There are 7 input ports, which should be more than enough for anybody, especially if you use a receiver to process your signals.

I would’ve liked audio out ports – since I have my digital TV signals coming in straight to the TV, I have no easy way to pipe the audio to the receiver or the external speakers. The TV’s own speakers are decent, but far from overwhelming.

There are few extras and the remote is very basic. No PIP or anything like that. For the size, picture quality, and the price, it’s a very good buy.
