5 Stars Price and Features, this is the best you can find
To Compare its features and the price it is the best 32 inch LCD TV I can find. I did read a few different 32-Inch specs and user menus. Samsung and Sharp (I do not remember what modles) are better than this one but about $300 higher. JVC (1080p at sam’s club) about the same price (but $40 tax) and feature but this one has a better picture quality. Vizio has different modles and the picture quality none of them better than this one. I also compare LG32LH40 (120Hz) with this one about $100 higher but some reviews of LG32LH40 reporting few minor issues.

This TV took a total of 30 minutes to unpack, hook up, and run! What a beauty! Picture is excellent with loads of adjustments possible. Ok, the black’s a little weak but not that bad. I have it in my bedroom hooked up to Dish Network. Considered Samsung 720p for more money but this one was a steal. LG makes a great product. Buy it, you won’t be unhappy!

This TV replaced an old 24″ analog TV. Been very pleased with it so far. Price and service was very good. I was skeptical about buying a TV online but had absolutely no problems. This is a great buy I have several LCDs HD around the house and did my research before this buy. The video quality is great. Clear and vivid colors. Motionflow is a plus, great for sports. Movies look great especially Bluray on 1080p. The picture looks like its going to pop out of the screen. This tv has great features as you can see, plus the xcross feature is sleek. You can watch Youtube on the tv; program weather,stock and news widgets plus tweeter and more to come (must have a broadband connection). You can also connect to your home network to access movies,pictures and music from your computer(s) to watch on your tv. The design of the tv is clean and does not look cheap, the frame around the screen is no more then an 1 1/2inch thick. The stand is rectangular and has a nice glossy finish. Has a multitude of input connectors. Great tv. No problems. The sound is fine for regular programing but if you want to enjoy movie quality sound don’t expect the tv’s speakers to do it unless your in a small room, so if you want great sound with this great tv just invest in a home theater system (Sony Bravia Home Theaters have a great kick)

5 Stars It’s about time
I have been waiting for quite some time to buy a new tv. Originally I planned on getting the 40″ Z series last year. But when the new models came out this year, the 40″ W series offered everything I was looking for a little bit cheaper price. It has a good looking profile and was a snap to set-up. I used the Cheetah tilting mount that I also purchased from amazon. Don’t let anyone fool you. The Cheetah mount is just as good or better than the expensive mounts. I already had a ps3 so the XMB menu system was very familiar. This is a great tv for the money.

The only con I can think of is that the remote doesn’t have a 1 button sleep timer. You have to go through the menus.

BTW: Amazon did a great job. I order TV on a Thursday and the following Wednesday the tv was hanging on my wall. Nice Service.

1 Star Defective on arrival
The tv was great for about 3 hours until a vertical neon green line appeared close to the right of the screen. After talking with Sony techs and not having the issue resolved, customer service agreed to replace the tv with a new one. I will review the new one when it arrives. This green line even appears with the tv plugged in and nothing else attached to it.

I’ve always had a SONY in the house. This set is being used as our main TV. The picture is sharp and bright. I also purchased an all in one sony home theater audio system, which really helps with the ordinary stereo sound the tv produces on it’s own. I will always own a SONY

1 Star Samsung HDMI Port and Power Board Failure after Warranty!
Before purchasing google the tech/repar sites for the hundreds/thousands of dis-satisfied customers that have had hdmi port and power board failure.

Conveniently for Samsung this usually only occurs after the warranty had run out.

I have a 2008 Samsung LCD HDTV that has had two hdmi ports and the power board fail.

The most ridiculous part of all of this – is that Samsung continues to use old/cheap capacity resistors on their boards (ones the manufacturer said were obsolete back in 1999 – ten years ago!).

I just made a purchase through electronics expo. At first I was debating on going with a 60hz set, to save some money. Then I stopped by my local best buy and they had this model and also the b550 which was the other series I was considering. Seeing them side to side, it was obvious that the 630 was the one to buy. The picture was bright, no motion blur, deep blacks, an all around great set. I got home to price shop on amazon and came across electronics expo, so I gave them a call. We were able to settle on a price that fit my budget and it was shipped out promptly. I am very happy with this set and would recommend it to anyone looking for an amazing 120hz tv.

3 Stars Be sure to budget for expensive repairs
The downside of Amazon.com reviews is that they deal with delivery, setup, and performance–but not long-term reliability. I own last year’s version of this unit–the LN-T4669F. And if you look up my review there, I say I love it. And well I should say so. Just like the current model, the performance–and bang for the buck–are great.

But. After owning it a year and a half the power supply went zzzzzt! and now, $350 and two weeks in the shop later, it’s as good as new. Of course it was out of warranty, and Samsung said I’m on my own.

To be fair to Samsung, the local service guy (who has great ratings, dramatically unlike Samsung’s recommended shop in my area) says that these big screen TVs are not as reliable as our old CRT TVs were. Less mature technology, he says. And he said Samsung isn’t less reliable than other mainstream LCD TVs. Also that the Japanese manufacturers’ units have gotten less reliable overall, as units from other countries have gotten better. Also, though I live in a very mild climate, I did run my TV for many, many hours.

So my point is that you should be prepared for occasional trips to the repair shop.

But another but: We’ve now bought two Samsung devices, and both have shown reliability problems. The other one was a DVD recorder (DVD-VR357), which was flakey and got flakier by the month. We replaced it with a Toshiba DVD recorder, which has been 100% reliable during long, hard usage, as have been several Toshiba laptops. So maybe our 46″ Samsung TV is no worse than other flat screen units, maybe it is. I don’t know. But the next time we get a flat screen I plan to think long and hard about a Toshiba. And also to dig around more for reliability ratings, such as the ones Consumer Reports publishes.

I might also consider one of those extended warranties, though most consumer advocates say they’re a ripoff for most products. But maybe not for flat screen TVs?

5 Stars Not Really Surprised
I had a 40″ Samsung (LN4061) for just over a year and a half and was totally sold on the matte screen and quality of the picture. When this unit was stolen in a burglary I knew that I wanted another Samsung. I decided to get a 46″ model as I was no longer constrained by a width requirement. I also wanted a matte screen as there are no window coverings here. If you are concerned about glare, the matte screen models will make a believer of you.

I ordered a returned unit that was without some accessory that apparently isn’t needed. It was delivered on time and the person stayed until I checked out the unit.

I am absolutely sold on Samsung and don’t hesitate to tell friends and relatives about them. The 120Hz screen refresh rate is impressive. I haven’t seen a 240Hz model, but I can imagine how much of an improvement they are.

I also don’t mind not having to pay tax on items bought through Amazon.

1 Star Unit has an over heating problem
Purchased the BDA-S4 in August to boost cable signals in our home setup. It was easy to install and worked great for 2 months. Now on 70 degree days it over heats and stops working. I wouldn’t recommend this unit for an exterior environment. It likely would work better in an interior application in a cool basement wiring closet. I don’t know what it’s temperature specifications are but be aware it does overheat.

5 Stars Amazing Analog Picture!
Absolutely amazing difference in analog picture quality! I used a two way splitter to run a line straight to my cable modem as recommended and attached the other cable to the Motorola Booster. From the booster I used three of the four hookups for signal to three TVs, one of which I split again with a good two way splitter so that I could drop a line to my computer TV card. Before I had horizontal lines on many of the channels and a couple were almost unviewable. The lines are all gone now and the picture on all three analog TVs and the computer is terrific! An unintended side effect is that my cable modem throughput has also increased because it is now being routed straight to the computer from the original two way splitter. I wish that I had done this years ago! If you have analog TVs with fuzzy or striped pictures I highly recommend this booster!

4 Stars Doesn’t seem to strengthen signal much
I live in the Evergreen area of San Jose, CA. With a Wineguard Squareshooter outdoor antenna, I realiably pick up most of the channels in my area, except for ABC7 and Fox2, which are flaky depending on time of day and weather conditions. I bought this signal booster to try to improve reception for those two channels. But I don’t see any real improvement, so I’ll have to give it only 3 stars.

5 Stars Great for Internet!
I bought this for my cable modem and I noticed a speed increase. The cable guy came by to replace my cable modem and even he noticed a significant speed increase with his bandwidth measuring device.

This will save you lots of time when streaming and downloading things off the internet, however, you might be spending more time on the internet since everything will be that much faster.

This product took 5 minutes to install. I replaced my existing splitter and my HD Channel that was coming in at 60% jumped to 95%. I was receiving most channels well, but CBS was coming and going. Now I get CBS and other channels that I did not know even existed.

2 Stars poor sharpness, no definition
After reading the good reviews, I brought this unit couple weeks ago. I am using it for TV only and have it plugged into my Comcast cable. The color is good and natural, the quality of the speaker is so-so but surprisingly, it can be very loud. I use it in the kitchen and have to set it at about 20%; otherwise, it will be too loud.

For no apparent reason, the unit received no signal from the cable after one week. I noticed that when I turn it on, the Viewsonic wallpaper, the three birds appears in grey. I tested it by hooking it up to the PC, same thing happened, no signal from the PC either. But after some plugging and unplugging, miraculously, the color and the signal came back. It’s been another week, so far so good. I hope it is not some loose wire inside the unit that caused the problem.

Anyway, my major complaint is that the picture on this unit has absolutely no definition, I don’t know if it is because I do not have HD channel or what, but the quality of the picture is so blend that my old Samsung box TV’s picture is better. It is especially bad on light color objects, you only see a patch of color and not much more.

5 Stars Great TV, even better monitor
I chose this TV because I live in a studio and don’t have enough room for both a TV screen and a computer screen. I was already using my computer to watch movies and living without a TV, but only so much is available online (particularly live events). It was very hard to find a screen with high enough resolution to work as a computer monitor, but this TV was a perfect match!

First, on TV attributes, the picture quality is great and many non-HD channels give me an option to “zoom” and fill the screen if needed. I also have a 20-yr old Nintendo and a 25 year old Atari, another reason for getting the TV, which work terrific and automatically stretch to fill the entire widescreen without too much distortion. My only gripes are channel management is a bit clunky and the blue power button right on the front is a bit of a distraction. Sound is also mediocre but obviously you’re not going to find $500 speakers on a $300 TV. I output the TV through my receiver stereo speakers and the sound is much much better.

As a computer monitor this TV really excels. Resolution is consistent with what you’d find on a standard widescreen monitor, so there’s no blurriness common with outputting a signal through a standard CRT. Also after several LCDs over the years this is my first with no dead pixels. Great job to ViewSonic on quality control. I haven’t tried gaming yet, I probably wouldn’t push it anyways, but DVD movies output just as if I had a DVD player hooked up to the TV directly. Just perfect all around as a monitor, though if you use Windows I suggest switching the theme to one that allows extra large fonts if you find yourself squinting.

Every thing about this Tv is Great from picture, sound, good surround sound, menu feature and good monitor with size. The only thing is how to hook up the differnt inputs. You have to do little bending and turnig in order to plug a cable to it in the back.

I’ve had this tv for about a month now and it’s great. It has superb clarity and the colors are vibrant. Definitely on par with or better than Sony and LG, especially for the price. My only negative comment is the sound. Maybe I’m going deaf or my space is too large, but I have to turn the volume up much higher than I’m used to…I’ve added my Bose speakers out of fear of busting the tv’s. Overall, great tv!

Great tv. great price for what you get. Picture is fantastic – colors crisp and bright, definition is sharp for all colors/shades. I have direcTV HD. Cant see how much better this picture will get but it definitely will bridge the game for several years. I don’t use other built in features like gaming to speak abt them. Sound is solid. normal viewing is at about 25% of limit. Tones are balanced and clear. for larger sound i go thru a stereo receiver. one sound quirk – the auto volume adjustment takes a couple of seconds to kick in; but that’s nit-picking.

First I want to say how impressed I am with Crutchfield. When I purchased this unit through Amazon I really didn’t pay much attention to who the actual seller was since it received the standard free shipping. I purchased this on a Saturday morning. With in 2 hours I received a phone call from Crutchfield thanking me for my purchase and explaining how the unit would be shipped, etc. I was very impressed with this and would absolutely purchase from Crutchfield in the future.

As for the Samsung – The picture is great with HD. I got it primarily for sports and the HD channels look great. Some of the standard def channels are not so spectacular but I don’t necessarily think that is a fault of the Samsung, I think it is more a Directv issue. I have an issue giving anything 5 stars but if you are looking for an LCD in this size range you should take a look at this one.

i guess my other samsung must be 120mhz cause the picture is not nearly as good as my two year old samsung. wonder if i can return this for a better model? I mean,it pic is ok but not even close to my 46 samsung from two years ago. i just assumed any new model would be better.

This is a great TV. The only thing that I found disappointing is the particular model I purchased did not come with the side inputs for hooking up my digital camera or camcorder etc. Getting to the back of the TV is an inconvenience and it also results in less input options.

It’s my first flat screen so I wasn’t aware that this would be an issue.

3 Stars Lovely picture, intermittent sound
This would be a wonderful LCD television were it not for a design flaw that, for me, is unacceptable. Any device that is connected through an HDMI input experiences intermittent sound cutout. If the connection is made through the component video inputs instead of the HDMI inputs, there is no audio dropout, but this raises other audio sync issues.

This audio dropout is not a flaw in my particular set only, but rather is a characteristic that permeates the entire Bravia line, as a simple online search can verify. When I noticed the problem, I had Sony send me a replacement television of the same model and vintage. Even after updating the system software, the replacement set exhibited the exact same problem as the original one, thus confirming that this is a design issue. I recently replaced the Sony set with a Samsung, and since changing brands I have had absolutely no further problems with audio dropout.

If it were not for this problem, I would strongly recommend this set. The picture is great and it seems to fade less with increased viewing angle than my Samsung does. Overall, the set feels solid and performed well except for the above noted problem. If you are considering buying a Bravia television, I strongly recommend that you purchase it from a seller to whom you can easily return it, just in case you experience the same problem that I did.

For what it’s worth, dealing with Sony customer service had its frustrating moments, but in the end the company stood behind its product and treated me more than fairly.

4 Stars Good TV, especially for the price
I bought this TV about a month ago after returning an LG 42″ LCD due to its problem of the sound not being in sync with the video on some stations. I paid $850 for this Sony which was a great price considering the options it had and what the TV was selling for at the brick and mortar stores. The picture is very nice. Either the Sony’s picture is just better than the LG, or the 120 Hz is a noticeable improvement (the LG was only 60 Hz).

The only complaint I have about this TV is that occasionally the sound cuts out for no apparent reason. If I change the channel just momentarily and then return to the channel I was watching, the sound returns with no problem. It’s only happened occasionally and is a minor inconvenience. I haven’t seen any other comments about this issue.

All in all, a very nice t.v.

5 Stars AWESOME LCD TV. POWERFUL HDTV TUNER.
I am really happy with this TV. It has a great menu interface, specially the favorite button that allows you to switch inputs in a matter of seconds. The picture quality is just awesome. Very good contrast and deep blacks. The auto-brightness sensor is also useful, as it adjusts to room lighting automatically.

One of the good things about the TV is the low energy it consumes – 180W. I have a pretty sophisticated power monitoring setup in my home. If you watch the TV in dark, this consumption automatically goes down, as the light sensor lowers the brightness.

I have my Mac connected to the TV, and I use Plex/Boxee as my primary Cable-movies-video-audio source, and trust me it looks wonderful on this TV.

For the price and features, I couldnt find a better TV. I spent around 10 days researching every TV (~1000) and I must say I am glad I chose Sony V series.

A very very confusing thing is to visit the store and compare TVs. It is crazy. You wont have 5 different LCDs in your living room, so stop comparing them on 5% difference in brightness.

Another thing that might help buyers like me is that, more brightness (which is what impressed me at stores) is not necessarily great. I just finished calibrating my TV and had to turn the brightness, contrast and backlight way way down than the factory default, to get the right experience from Movies and my Mac. So trust me, do some research and you will learn, why more super bright isn’t necessarily great and to make it worse, it consumes much more energy.

I upgraded from a Sony Wega 27″ flat screen (not flat panel). That thing was a beast; it must have weight over 100 lbs. It was pretty good (hey, it’s a Sony), but my new 40″ Bravia is unbelievable. I love it! Quck and easy to set up, intuitive menus, great options for inputs, and I can even use it as a computer monitor (I hooked up my lap top and views some pictures). I can’t say anything bad about it – I even got an amazing deal through a seller on Amazon.

I was planning to buy a LCD for so long (almost 6 months), and then after a lot of research I bought this TV 2 months back and since then have started watching TV a lot. Truly a great buy !! The football games on Sunday could not have been better. With a 46″ screen and amazing picture quality in HD, and to that when you the loud sound (considering that I had an older TV before), watching Sunday games becomes awesome.

I am thinking of getting another Sony this holiday season, as we have only one TV and I want another one in my GAME room.

A great TV for a great price.

4 Stars Great Sony product with a few slight quirks.
I ordered this as a replacement to my other Sony 42″ A10 series that had an optical block problem, lucky i got the extended warranty. I got this set being the Sony fanboy i have always been from Amazon’s Warehouse Deals as an opened box unit, and it was absolutely flawless, paid $1025. The PQ on this set is far better than my older one but with some slight quirks due to this technology. One of them is a “flashlight” effect in the corners and around the screen edges during a dark or black scene, happens on all of these types of sets to some degree, but not really a problem for me. There is also some slight color shifting called “redshifting” on skintones during some scenes, but not really noticable unless you’re a true A/V freak like myself. Sony is aware of this issue and is working on it, but i still don’t see it as a big deal and it is only very slight if at all. It’s like the color on someones face will vary a little like it can’t lock onto the right color, but again hardly noticable.

I would recommend this set but that would be biased because in my eyes Sony can do no wrong, well almost. I like it and that’s all that matters.

4 Stars Audio out is FIXED

The audio output on my KDL46V5100 is FIXED. Unlike the earlier KDL series, which have variable output, this model is fixed. If you use an external amp and speakers you won’t be able to use the TV remote to conrtol the volume.

Almost purchased a Samsung LED TV from BB until I saw this set next to the Samsung. For $500 less, the picture quatily was identical. Found it even cheaper at Amazon, with free shipping. The picture quality is incredible. I have it paired with a PS3 as well as the Sony HDX-589 home theater system. No blurring while playing the PS3 or watching high speed sports. The software update was simple to install, and I’ve had no problems with the picture. Would buy this TV again.

Purchased 09/18/09; arrived within a week; Pilot delivery service brought in the tv and set it up for me and made sure it worked. I was leary about an open box item, but I do not see any issue with the tv and at $792 it was a great price. I am extremely happy with my purchase. I give four stars because standard definition viewing is not that great, but HD is wonderful.

5 Stars Samsung LN46B550 LCD TV
This TV is amazing. This is the TV to buy for many reasons.

I bought this TV because whenever I go to a store that sells TVs, the Samsungs always have the best picture quality.

This particular model is not only a dream TV, but is also the best value for any TV:

The 52 inch model of this TV is way more expensive than the 46. Not worth it unless you really want a really huge TV.

The 37 and 40 inch models are almost as expensive, so you might as well get the 46.

The 46 inch model of the Samsung 650 line is way more expensive than this TV. That is a lot of money for the 120 Hz you probably won’t use.

The 550 models are slightly more expensive than the 530’s, but the super clear gloss screen makes the 550 the better choice.

Plasmas are cheaper, but LCDs are more reliable, lighter, and I think they have better pictures (from good viewing angles).

I bought this TV as an open box item from Amazon Warehouse Deals. I got a super good deal because of surface scratches I’ll never care about. The TV has minor scratches on a corner of the bezel and the remote also has a small scratch. The scratches are so light that I could buff them out using a rubbing compound. I won’t bother though because I can’t even see them unless I am like 6 inches away.

I would highly recommend Amazon Warehouse Deals. I just checked and right now they are sold out of their imperfect open box LN46B550 TVs. That is not a surprise.

I could write many pros about the TV, but why bother.

Go to a store and compare the screens of the big TV’s.

Samsung TVs are always the best.

5 Stars Outstanding Picture Quality
We needed to replace an old Sony 27″ standard definition set and after doing my homework I decided to buy the Samsung LN46B550. When hooked up to an HD cable box, this set delivers an extremely high quality, noise-free, sharp,detailed picture. But its best picture feature is the amazing color quality – the best I’ve ever seen. Colors and flesh tones are very accurate with good detail in shadow scenes when properly adjusted to realistic saturation levels. I found the picture quality very easy to tune to near-perfection using the numerous built-in picture adjustments. In fact a videophile friend later brought over his video calibration DVD and was amazed to find the set delivering extremely accurate colors and contrast levels with no further adjustment necessary. My wife, who never paid much attention to picture quality, has suddenly become a videophile – she loves watching movies on this set. Next step is to buy a Blu-Ray player to fully exploit the set’s capabilities.

I can’t comment much on the audio quality because I am hard of hearing. The speakers are certainly more than adequate for my needs, and for watching movies we have the set connected to a home theatre system. I also appreciate the low gloss, matte screen on the B550. In daytime our viewing room can be rather bright but with this set there are no annoying reflections.

5 Stars Doesn’t Get Much Better Than This
I got in our first widescreen TV last week. (My old TV had one connection in the back and was about 15 years old.) Although I had a few worries about ordering such a large and expensive item from Amazon, those worries proved groundless.

Before ordering, I had done all sorts of research in Consumer Reports and at on-line reviews before arriving at this Samsung model for the way to go in HDTV sets, and I was able to order the exact model at a great price at Amazon.

I also had been worried about the delivery of such an item after reading mixed reviews. The delivery was superb. We needed to actually check the TV for damage on the spot, hook it up, and make sure it played. The young woman who delivered it was very professional and helpful.

At 68 years of age, I am the “tech person” in our home, but I found the actual plug and play feature a cinch. Adding my DVD player to the TV and U-Verse box was more challenging, but with some help from U-Verse and trial and error on my own, I was able to get my TV running well. Even though we am not paying for the HDTV service, we find the picture crisp and clear, and the closed captioning is a plus for us senior citizens. The swivel feature of the stand makes TV viewing effortless for the open plan of our living and dining areas. My next project is to learn how to program the remote so that I don’t have to keep up with three of them.

There is nothing not to love about this TV. I’ll have to let you know if I last longer than it does!

Nice TV. My only complaint is that the off angle viewing drops off considerably when you move even at a slight angle to the screen

2 Stars Poor Sound
I came across this TV and I used it for about a week. [Disclaimer : The product I used was from a local store]

Its stylish, and adds a lot of picture enrichment. If you love sports or action movies, try the game mode and you will notice a distinct difference. Quite impressive.

This TV will not be a good fit in the living room, for one reason it is quite small, and also the bigger reason, the sound quality is very poor.

If you are looking at a small room, I would say this is a good fit, but definitely not for the living room.

4 Stars as expected
Good quality fairly small – in today’s big screen world – lcd tv. The viewer has to be pretty straight on for the best picture. Our large screen Sony has a better picture.

4 Stars Good Value…needs better sound.
I picked up two of these at $219 each from Amazon and recently ordered another one for a relative at $221. A very good value. We have one in a bedroom and one in a home office.

The picture is good but not as good as the Samsung LN19A450 which we also have but is no longer available. I would have preferred the LN19A450 even though it was about $100 more.

In summary these are a good value for the money but not for those who want the absolute best picture and sound in a small TV.
