1 Star Samsung HDMI Port and Power Board Failure after Warranty!
Before purchasing google the tech/repar sites for the hundreds/thousands of dis-satisfied customers that have had hdmi port and power board failure.

Conveniently for Samsung this usually only occurs after the warranty had run out.

I have a 2008 Samsung LCD HDTV that has had two hdmi ports and the power board fail.

The most ridiculous part of all of this – is that Samsung continues to use old/cheap capacity resistors on their boards (ones the manufacturer said were obsolete back in 1999 – ten years ago!).

I just made a purchase through electronics expo. At first I was debating on going with a 60hz set, to save some money. Then I stopped by my local best buy and they had this model and also the b550 which was the other series I was considering. Seeing them side to side, it was obvious that the 630 was the one to buy. The picture was bright, no motion blur, deep blacks, an all around great set. I got home to price shop on amazon and came across electronics expo, so I gave them a call. We were able to settle on a price that fit my budget and it was shipped out promptly. I am very happy with this set and would recommend it to anyone looking for an amazing 120hz tv.

3 Stars Be sure to budget for expensive repairs
The downside of Amazon.com reviews is that they deal with delivery, setup, and performance–but not long-term reliability. I own last year’s version of this unit–the LN-T4669F. And if you look up my review there, I say I love it. And well I should say so. Just like the current model, the performance–and bang for the buck–are great.

But. After owning it a year and a half the power supply went zzzzzt! and now, $350 and two weeks in the shop later, it’s as good as new. Of course it was out of warranty, and Samsung said I’m on my own.

To be fair to Samsung, the local service guy (who has great ratings, dramatically unlike Samsung’s recommended shop in my area) says that these big screen TVs are not as reliable as our old CRT TVs were. Less mature technology, he says. And he said Samsung isn’t less reliable than other mainstream LCD TVs. Also that the Japanese manufacturers’ units have gotten less reliable overall, as units from other countries have gotten better. Also, though I live in a very mild climate, I did run my TV for many, many hours.

So my point is that you should be prepared for occasional trips to the repair shop.

But another but: We’ve now bought two Samsung devices, and both have shown reliability problems. The other one was a DVD recorder (DVD-VR357), which was flakey and got flakier by the month. We replaced it with a Toshiba DVD recorder, which has been 100% reliable during long, hard usage, as have been several Toshiba laptops. So maybe our 46″ Samsung TV is no worse than other flat screen units, maybe it is. I don’t know. But the next time we get a flat screen I plan to think long and hard about a Toshiba. And also to dig around more for reliability ratings, such as the ones Consumer Reports publishes.

I might also consider one of those extended warranties, though most consumer advocates say they’re a ripoff for most products. But maybe not for flat screen TVs?

5 Stars Not Really Surprised
I had a 40″ Samsung (LN4061) for just over a year and a half and was totally sold on the matte screen and quality of the picture. When this unit was stolen in a burglary I knew that I wanted another Samsung. I decided to get a 46″ model as I was no longer constrained by a width requirement. I also wanted a matte screen as there are no window coverings here. If you are concerned about glare, the matte screen models will make a believer of you.

I ordered a returned unit that was without some accessory that apparently isn’t needed. It was delivered on time and the person stayed until I checked out the unit.

I am absolutely sold on Samsung and don’t hesitate to tell friends and relatives about them. The 120Hz screen refresh rate is impressive. I haven’t seen a 240Hz model, but I can imagine how much of an improvement they are.

I also don’t mind not having to pay tax on items bought through Amazon.

Started looking for a television to replace an older model. Went to Best Buy to compare picture and sound quality side by side, and settled on this model. The ability to change the framing of the picture allows each individual to see what style they prefer, at the click of a button. The color quality is a true color representation, and again it is easy to change the brightness if you like. We chose to mount it on the wall, and with the thickness of just over an inch, it is not in the way when walking in front of it.

Amazon had the best price, by $50 over Best Buy when we were looking, and we were well satisfied with the delivery. Ordered at 5:00 p.m. one day, and had received it by noon the following day.

Would highly recommend this model to anyone.

Being used to a 40″ Samsung LCD 1040p I didn’t expect much from this small LCD at 720p, but I was surprised, and pleased. I would certainly recommend this LCD to anyone who needs a small TV for use in a kitchen, or other small room. Viewing is best at 6′ or less. But I am pleased.

I have Comcast cable in Mass., and like another reviewer I was surprised how many channels including HD it picked up during channel search. More than any other TV or VCR in the house without a digital cable box.

Small TVs often have trouble fitting speaker systems into the available space, but this one is fine. I have it in my bedroom and have not put the sound higher than 30% from the lowest setting, even when doing tasks like folding clothes and watching while my son uses the main TV for video games 20 feet away.

Maybe more of an issue with my cable carrier than the TV, I have 2 or 3 locations for each channel, a regular a digital, and in some cases an HD. So I have to remove a lot of channels from the active list. The ‘regular’ ones have their titles like ‘Bravo’ and “TNT” but I have to add those names to the digital stations which are on some odd number like 75-2 but are the ones I want to keep.

The TV permits custom labeling so I can add CH 55 for name of channel, I just wish the click to remove unwanted channels from the lineup was in the same menu as naming a channel, so I could make my lineup short and descriptive easily.

It also permits a small menu of favorites, but the Fav key doesn’t toggle thru the list; one has to move one’s hand from the Fav button to the arrow buttons surrounding the circle.

Laying in bed in the dark it would be handy to toggle thru 10 or 15 Fav channels by pressing one button over and over rather than blindly hunt for the arrow keys after hitting the Fav button, which times out before a newbie like me can find the right arrow. Maybe I’ll get faster.

I too viewed several TVs at Best Buy prior to buying, and this one had better detail and color rendition than most of the others. I’m going to wall mount it one of these days. It is made with metric screw threads all over, but the TV comes with 4 screws in the mount holes because most US homes don’t have a stash of metric screws, a very customer-friendly thing to do.

I do not have a source for HD, but simply wanted a nice big flat screen for regular satellite TV. I found this one to be very adequate. Other reviews knock the sound quality a little. I found it to be less than fantastic, but not bad at all. The only disappointment I had was the “sound leveler”. I thought it would eliminate loud commercials and variations between channels. Apparently it was not designed to do this.

1 Star Bad experience buying this TV from Amazon.
This review is for the process of buying this TV from Amazon. I know some of you only want reviews about the TV, however this review is for the bad experience I had buying it from Amazon.

Ordered the TV from Amazon on Wednesday for a very good price. Was notified on Friday via text that the tv would be delivered that day. Checked the status at Amazon and it stated “Action Required from Customer” . I called them and told them that I had not been contacted. They said we will call you later to schedule an appointment…I called them back later that day and asked about the status and they scheduled me for Monday between 12-3. I made arrangements to be home at that time. Well Monday at 12 they called and stated that they could not deliver it that day it would be be one more day. I again made arrangements to be home during their deliver window. Well at 11:30 the shipping company Pilot called and said they would be at my home at 12:20. They arrived at 1:30….Then they opened the box and the screen was broken. They took the TV away. Then I received a text that my order had been delivered. Now Amazon said I should receive my TV next Wednesday (8 more days). Skip this hassle and buy somewhere else.

I’ve had this tv for about a month now and it’s great. It has superb clarity and the colors are vibrant. Definitely on par with or better than Sony and LG, especially for the price. My only negative comment is the sound. Maybe I’m going deaf or my space is too large, but I have to turn the volume up much higher than I’m used to…I’ve added my Bose speakers out of fear of busting the tv’s. Overall, great tv!

Great tv. great price for what you get. Picture is fantastic – colors crisp and bright, definition is sharp for all colors/shades. I have direcTV HD. Cant see how much better this picture will get but it definitely will bridge the game for several years. I don’t use other built in features like gaming to speak abt them. Sound is solid. normal viewing is at about 25% of limit. Tones are balanced and clear. for larger sound i go thru a stereo receiver. one sound quirk – the auto volume adjustment takes a couple of seconds to kick in; but that’s nit-picking.

First I want to say how impressed I am with Crutchfield. When I purchased this unit through Amazon I really didn’t pay much attention to who the actual seller was since it received the standard free shipping. I purchased this on a Saturday morning. With in 2 hours I received a phone call from Crutchfield thanking me for my purchase and explaining how the unit would be shipped, etc. I was very impressed with this and would absolutely purchase from Crutchfield in the future.

As for the Samsung – The picture is great with HD. I got it primarily for sports and the HD channels look great. Some of the standard def channels are not so spectacular but I don’t necessarily think that is a fault of the Samsung, I think it is more a Directv issue. I have an issue giving anything 5 stars but if you are looking for an LCD in this size range you should take a look at this one.

This is a great TV. The only thing that I found disappointing is the particular model I purchased did not come with the side inputs for hooking up my digital camera or camcorder etc. Getting to the back of the TV is an inconvenience and it also results in less input options.

4 Stars LG 37LH30 LCD HDTV
I am not going to be very technical in this review, and since I don’t know about all those technical details that would give a rating of excellent, I gave it 4 stars. I had an expert set it up when I got Dish Network installed, so that it would work seamlessly with the receiver. (Which it did). The picture is clear, as clear as the 37″ Sony Bravia’s picture is in another room, and the LG cost at least $300.00 less. That means that I will be able to buy more “home theater” equipment to go with it.

4 Stars We Like our New TV
This is our main TV and it has worked flawlessly for about a month now. The size was determined by the custom entertainment corner unit we had built a few years ago. 37″ was the largest that would fit. It’s good looking with nice fit and finish details. The delivery service Amazon provided was very good. They unpacked the unit and powered it up on the floor because I had not removed the very heavy big old tube TV. They installed batteries in the remote and turned on the set to assure the screen and sound were functioning. I connected it to my analog cable service (not HDTV) but was disappointed to see it had only one cable/antenna input. I was planning to get free HDTV from my local stations off my antenna. But that would have required me to install a separate switch to disconnect the cable and connect the antenna every time I wanted to get HDTV. I called my cable company to see if they would provide a DVR unit with HDMI output rather than the coax cable type. They could but only if I agreed to pay 3-4 dollars per month more for digital cable service. That was less than I expected so I setup an appointment to get it. Mean time we watched the analogue cable service. I was not impressed. I think the picture was less clear than my old TV. All thoughts of returning the unit disappeared as soon as the digital cable was connected. Picture quality is now excellent! I am very happy with the set over all. Sound quality is also very good. Controls are a little complicated but it is easy to learn the basics and it works well with the Cable’s DVR and remote.

I`ve owned a very nice 32″ LCD TV for about a year now.

I thought about going bigger & this TV was attractive &

priced just right.

When it came in I noticed the picture quality was less than

what I currently own.

A bit of investigation lead me to this:

When you get a TV set bigger than 32″ make sure it ie at

least 120hz. This is very important especially if you

are watching sports.

The “pixels” in a 60hz cannot keep up with fast action

thus causing a slight blur in the pic.

Unfortunately the description of this TV did not even mention

the HZ.

Makes me wander why cause it seems the makers are

dumping the lesser 60hz sets. Well, walla, answer:

A newer & better 240hz is just on the horizon. 4 times

the pixels & picture quality.

5 Stars Quality Television Set
This is a quality television set. The picture looks crisp, football is what I use the tv for mostly..that and xbox 360. This tv is awesome for both of those things. Also, blu rays are fantastic on it….this tv is the total package pretty much.

2 Stars If it could only last longer than…
2 weeks. We purchased this TV from Amazon and have had it replaced twice due to a couple of issues:

- 1st Delivery – Horizontal lines showing up and sound was going out

- 2nd Delivery – HDMI inputs are failing to pick up a signal. Screen is turning a pink hue. Sound is going out intermittently.

I have purchased many Sony products like TVs, Camera, Computer, and DVD players so I have faith in the brand. I just don’t have any faith in this particular model.

We are very frustrated to not have a properly functioning TV after 2 months and paying over $1550.

5 Stars Very good for a “Introduction To HD” TV
I’ve had this TV since the middle of June 2009(reaching the 6 month period). Before this TV, I’d never had an HDTV or a TV anywhere near this size either. I am pretty tech savvy but HDTVs were not my specialty. With that being stated, I will give you my experience with this particular HDTV.

Since the beginning of 2009, I’d been looking at TVs off and on with the help of “CNET”, just google it, and I’d heard that Sony had an impressive line of entry HDTVs. But I put off the thought of buying one until the middle of June. I was fumbling around on BestBuy’s website (sorry Amazon, at the time, I found a better price. BTW, its just a product review.) and in the “weekly specials” I found this TV on sale for $1499.99, down from its original price of $1999.99. It was the HDTV that I had favored the most from CNET’s reviews, so I made some calls around and none of the stores close had it. I managed to find a store about an hour away that had 2 left, 1 in stock and 1 on display. Drove an hour to check it out and loved it. I added the 3 or 4 year “bring it back no matter what” warranty and after taxes came out to just under $2250, which I paid on the spot in cash, I had not-so-great credit.

Brought it home and set it up and it was a beauty. It took about 30-45 minutes for the TV to recognize (it did something to find all the available cable channels) the channels and our first DVD experience was through our Xbox 360 and it was the Dane Cook’s HBO comedy special. The show wasn’t that greatest thing I’d ever seen BUT the freaking picture was. BTW, the HD cable, Xbox 360, and our Wii look superb on it as well. (Now if I can just get my hands on some Blu-Ray material.)

***PROBLEMS***

I guess every rose has its thorns (haha, cheesy), well this one has (2) of them, and they aren’t really thorns.

1st – MOTION FLOW: To my knowledge(I could be wrong), the MotionFlow feature is the HDTV’s way of enabling the 120Hz refresh rate, which is AWESOME, BUT you can’t just quickly toggle between the 3 options they have for the MotionFlow,(Off, Standard, Full) I mean, you can preview them on the MotionFlow screen, but no quick adjustment feature/button. You have to go into the picture settings every time and slowly make your way to the advanced settings at the bottom of the screen.

2nd – When you have the MotionFlow on “Full” there are still parts during whatever you’re watching that don’t continuously show in that “smooth frame experience”. I’m thinking that the 240Hz HDTVs are probably more dedicated to the continuous MotionFlow. It’s nothing to cry about.

Other than that, the TV is great. The sound is great, it ranges from 0 to 100 and at 60 its good enough for me. Don’t get me wrong, I’d go with a home theater system, but for now its nice. The remote is easy to understand and navigate. I would recommend it to anyone else who was in the same shoes that I was in. To say the least…(haha since I wrote a bibles worth of information) I am satisfied.

I did a lot of research before purchasing this TV. It’s one of the best one out there for the price. The picture is great and has a lot of features. It’s 120 HZ which good for watching sports. The sound quality is JUST OKAY -I recommend attaching a sound system to the tv or (just a couple of mini BOSS speakers which u can get for less than $100.)

Have had the TV now for about 3 weeks and couldn’t be happier. Picture resolution in awesome. Sound is actually really good because Sony has a speaker bar type speakers across the bottom of the TV so the sound actually comes out at you instead of being aimed down and bouncing off the stand like some other brands.

The 120hz motion takes some getting used to after upgrading from 60hz. Otherwise I highly recommend this TV even if it is considered an entry level TV, you’ll never even know otherwise.

Which Size HDTV is Right for My Room?

With standard-definition TVs, the rule used to be that viewers would feel comfortable watching a set from a distance of 3 to 6 times the screen size in inches. With HDTV, the resolution is so much better that you can sit closer to a larger TV without noticing the pixels. So with HDTVs, the rule tends to be you can sit anywhere from 1.5 to 3 times the screen size (in inches) for the best experience. If you know the size of the room you have already, where you want to sit, and where your new HDTV should go once you get it, you can figure out the size HDTV you should get. 5 Stars Great TV for the Price! Very Happpy!
I received the KDL-52W5100 about 2 weeks ago. It replaced a KDL-52V5100 that I got in March, which replaced an older Sony Hi-Def LCD rear projection 1080i model (KDF-60XS955). The KDL-52V5100 was great at first, but it had a very annoying dimming problem that Sony eventually fixed with a firmware update. The problem was that the firmware update then broke the audio for me. The audio would cut out a few times a night on all HDMI inputs. Tried new cables, new Dish receiver, everything. They finally, after weeks of fighting with them, sent me another KDL-52V5100 which then had the same problem. Sony was very good about taking care of me with these issues, once I got a hold of the right person. Before that, they give you the run around and are willing to let your brand new TV sit in a repair shop for weeks while you wait for it. I will be keeping the contact names/numbers/email addresses for future reference. It’s amazing how fast your problems get addressed when you email the Vice President of customer service for North America directly at his actual personal email address! They finally, just 2 weeks ago replaced it with this TV. The KDL-52V5100 had a great picture (when I wasn’t having problems with it) but this TV performs very noticeably better! I have used it with an XBOX360, a PS3 and with Dish Network Hi-Def receiver/DVR. The standard def is better than most of the other LCD’s I looked at but as with all you can see the flaws of the SD picture. This one looks better than most for SD though. It also doesn’t have the HDMI color space issue that the KDL-52V5100 had with my XBOX360. I have it set to Y’CbCr and it looks AMAZING! The PS3 also looks INCREDIBLE! This TV had all the features I wanted and has delivered higher performance and picture than expected. This TV does have noticeably better picture quality than the V series. The contrast is better (possible due to the Bravia 3 engine as opposed to the Bravia 2 engine in the V series) and there are more advanced features for scene selection and other video options. Plus the Xross media bar menu system is WAY better than the plain generic menu in the V series. It looks to be more customizable. The internet connection, DLNA and widgets are just a bonus for me. When I received it, it already needed a firmware upgrade which very conveniently upgraded right over the internet rather than having to use a flash drive. Because of that I can’t comment on issues with the old firmware. The stand is average size but I wish it swiveled. The TV is not too heavy. The appearance is very sleek, it appears less clunky than the heavier V series and I like the option to have the Sony logo glow. It’s pretty cool. The one thing I was worried about was the fact that it has an 8-bit LCD panel, rather than a 10-bit panel. I was really worried it would have banding or “paint by number” effects. I picked up a copy of Digital Video Essentials (DVE) HD Basics on Blu-Ray to calibrate the TV and to my surprise it included a test for checking for slow processing and for color banding “paint by number” effects. This TV was able to reproduce a perfect gradation in both color and gray scale with ABSOLUTELY no banding or “paint by number” effects whatsoever! I was really impressed. According to DVE an 8-bit panel should be able to do this as long as the processing board is fast enough and good enough quality. These problems are more due to the processing than an 8-bit panel according to DVE. The 10-bit is not necessary if you have adequate processing. After more research I have found that, that is why most higher end manufacturers, like Sony have started using 8-bit panels again in most but their very high end models. After calibrating this TV with DVE the picture is far better than I had ever hoped for, with great black levels and extremely vibrant, true to life color. The off angle viewing is exceptional. The picture morphs a little from extreme side view due to the flat screen, but the contrast and brightness even from almost sideways is awesome! On the last note, the Dish Network receiver/DVR looks great as well. Any problems with the picture was due to the signal from the satellite and not the TV itself. All the HD channels have some compression and it shows, but wouldn’t matter how good the TV is for that. DVD, Blu-Ray, XBOX350 and PS3 have absolutely the best picture I have seen on any other LCD. They only thing that could be as good or better is Plasma, but I really wanted a Sony and they only make LCD’s now. I am very pleased with my purchase and would highly recommend this TV for anyone. The matte finish is great as I have a lot of ambient lights and side windows in my living room. The only other TV I was considering was the Samsung and the highly reflective, glossy screen just would not work for me. Other than that, the Samsung has a great picture too. I mean Sony uses Samsung panels in most of their TV’s, so…

4 Stars Great LCD TV, with a major design oversight
I just bought this TV last week. I’ve been in the market for a 52″ LCD HDTV for about a month, and ultimately chose this model for several reasons: (1) Based on my research, Sony and Samsung are the top brands. I ruled out Samsung after realizing that none of their 2009 models (B line 5, 6, 7 series) come with S-video input for some unknown reason. The 2008 models (A line) had them, but not in 2009. I have older equipment that defaults to S-video output, so for me having an S-video input is very important. Also, 3 of the 4 HDMI ports are on the side, and since I’ll be wall-mounting the TV, I think easy access to the ports is very important, too. (2) Between the Sony 52″ models, there are 5 selections: S, V, W, Z, XBR. The W is neither too low-end (it has Bravia Engine 3, unlike the S or V which only has Bravia Engine 2) or too high-end (120Hz is good enough for me, Z and XBR are 240Hz). It is the smallest in dimension, with the thinnest bezel. It comes with DLNA and Internet support, although I don’t see myself using the widgets that often (because I have it hooked up to a Mac mini anyway), having the capability to connect to network greatly increases the value and flexibility of it.

Overall, I’m happy with the TV. The picture looks sharp, the colors are gorgeous, and setup was easy. Once on the network, it found a firmware update to fix some known issues so that was very easy.

Then, yesterday, I discovered a major design flaw in it. I was hooking up an indoor digital antenna to the TV, and looking for a signal strength indicator so I can best position the antenna. To my disappointment, I couldn’t find it in the owner’s manual, so I called Sony support. I was told that it does not have a signal strength indicator. I find it absurd that a $2000 TV with built-in HD receiver does not include such a critical feature. Samsung T260 LCD HDTV (~$350) has it, and EyeTV 3 software even announces the signal quality every second while I’m up fine-tuning the antenna position.

I hope Sony recognizes this inexcusable oversight and corrects it in a future software update.

5 Stars Best 52″ TV for the price
Just got it about 4 hours ago and this completely beats out my old 32″. First off, the border around the TV is thin which I find GREAT. It doesn’t draw your eye to it like larger glossy finishes. Out of the box most of the settings are very good, a few tweaks is your more techy tho. The speakers do pretty good as well, not surround sound but as close as it gets. I haven’t set up the internet yet tho. Still need to buy a wireless bridge, which might be the only thing I found wrong with it. But that may be stretching it. A definite buy!

1 Star Sony Bravia KDL-46XBR4
I purchased a Sony KDL-46XBR4 LCD TV in Feb. of 08. This May, 3 months after the warranty expired, the screen started flickering and was dark in spots. After 30 minutes of warm up the screen would appear normal. I contacted Sony support. They had me unplug it, wait 1 minute and plug it back in. They said if this didn’t fix it to contact one of their repair companies in the Austin area. The repair company said it would cost $1400 to $1700 to repair. For this kind of money I could buy a new TV. Maybe M. Barnes can get the contact information for the VP of Customer support. Buyer beware!

FIRST OFF, I’M NOT AN AUDIOPHILE OR VIDEOPHILE. I’M INTELLIGENT, CONSERVATIVE AND WANTED A MEDIUM PRICED, GOOD QUALITY LCD HDTV. I WAS NOT CONCERNED ABOUT ALL THE FRILLS ON THIS TV EVEN THO I WILL OF COURSE UTILIZE SOME OF THEM. I WANTED A TV WITH A SMALL FOOTPRINT FOR IT’S SIZE, EXCELLENT RESOLUTION, GOOD SOUND QUALITY EVEN THO IT IS HOOKED UP TO A BOSE SURROUND SOUND SYSTEM. I FOUND THE SETUP WAS CLEAR AND EASY. TV GUIDE SETUP A BREEZE. THE PICTURE QUALITY IN HD IS FANTASTIC. I COULDN’T RATE IT HIGHER! I FOUND THE BLURRING ISSUE MINIMAL WHILE WATCHING SPORTING EVENTS (FOOTBALL & BASEBALL). I WAS ALSO HAPPY THAT IT HAS THE UPDATED BRAVIA ENGINE 3. I MADE A WISE CHOICE WITH THIS TV AND I AM VERY PLEASED.

I was planning to buy a LCD for so long (almost 6 months), and then after a lot of research I bought this TV 2 months back and since then have started watching TV a lot. Truly a great buy !! The football games on Sunday could not have been better. With a 46″ screen and amazing picture quality in HD, and to that when you the loud sound (considering that I had an older TV before), watching Sunday games becomes awesome.

I am thinking of getting another Sony this holiday season, as we have only one TV and I want another one in my GAME room.

4 Stars Great Sony product with a few slight quirks.
I ordered this as a replacement to my other Sony 42″ A10 series that had an optical block problem, lucky i got the extended warranty. I got this set being the Sony fanboy i have always been from Amazon’s Warehouse Deals as an opened box unit, and it was absolutely flawless, paid $1025. The PQ on this set is far better than my older one but with some slight quirks due to this technology. One of them is a “flashlight” effect in the corners and around the screen edges during a dark or black scene, happens on all of these types of sets to some degree, but not really a problem for me. There is also some slight color shifting called “redshifting” on skintones during some scenes, but not really noticable unless you’re a true A/V freak like myself. Sony is aware of this issue and is working on it, but i still don’t see it as a big deal and it is only very slight if at all. It’s like the color on someones face will vary a little like it can’t lock onto the right color, but again hardly noticable.

I would recommend this set but that would be biased because in my eyes Sony can do no wrong, well almost. I like it and that’s all that matters.

4 Stars Audio out is FIXED

The audio output on my KDL46V5100 is FIXED. Unlike the earlier KDL series, which have variable output, this model is fixed. If you use an external amp and speakers you won’t be able to use the TV remote to conrtol the volume.

Almost purchased a Samsung LED TV from BB until I saw this set next to the Samsung. For $500 less, the picture quatily was identical. Found it even cheaper at Amazon, with free shipping. The picture quality is incredible. I have it paired with a PS3 as well as the Sony HDX-589 home theater system. No blurring while playing the PS3 or watching high speed sports. The software update was simple to install, and I’ve had no problems with the picture. Would buy this TV again.

5 Stars Does it all and then some!
After spending a month or so sifting through all of the latest models and such it came down to this or the Sony Bravia 40″. When there was a sale (thanks Amazon!) down to 899 I couldn’t say no and picked one up. First of all, I had no problems whatsoever with the delivery company. Actually it was this little old couple so I helped put it up on my table and they were very patient making sure that all parts worked, the stand was put together, and that we had a signal with no dead pixels so big thumbs up for CEVA from me at least.

The TV does everything it claims. I agree with many of the other reviewers that Samsung could have done SOMETHING other than hiding the buttons behind the glass. Not a dealbreaker by any means but I have had to develop the ninja touch without looking or else find the remote. The various settings allowed me to get it just right in no time at all. Having moved up from a tube tv this is an AWESOME set for sports and movies. Football season just got a whole lot better. I can’t tell if the 120hz makes a big difference or if it’s just going from regular to HD on Sundays.

Highly recommend for other buyers. The number of HDMI ports makes it very accessible for multiple game machines and my Cable/DVR. No glare when the sun is coming in the windows, MUCH better than what I saw on several sets at the local Best Buy.

5 Stars What a picture!!!!
This is my first LCD TV and I love it. I did alot of research before buying this particular model. I had been following the reviews and prices of the LN40B650 but when I realized that it had a glossy screen and I have a very bright room, I decided to go with the 630 model because it had a matte finish on the screen. When the TV is on there is very little glare. The TV is a dust magnet but I just keep the softcloth that came with the TV nearby. I have made few adjustments to the controls. The speakers are OK; a bit tinny. I have had the TV for a month and I still sit in front of it and stare at the clarity of the picture. I am extremely happy with this purchase. The delivery was flawless…on time, polite and friendly people. The deliveryman did remove the top of the box before he left so we could make sure the screen was intact. Otherwise, I had to set everything up.

I wish I could give a 5-star review for the tv. But I don’t have it. I ordered this tv on Oct. 8, 2009 with estimated delivery Oct.15, 2009. It was coming by Pilot and tracking showed it to be in Indianapolis, IN on Oct.9 and in Groveport, OH on Oct 12. Having heard nothing from anyone on Oct. 15, I e-mailed Pilot and did get a quick response saying that my tv was now with their home delivery company and gave me a phone number. I called and was told that it would not be delivered until Oct. 21 or 22, when they are in my area. Keep in mind that I am less than two hours away from Groveport and Grove City, Oh where this second company is located. There was nothing I could say that would get my tv delivered any sooner. So, it is sitting less than 2 hours from my home for 10 days waiting on some lazy delivery company to bring it to me. I just hope the tv is everything all the other reviewers say it is when I get it, if I ever do. By the way, when I ordered it the price was $1299-now it is $300+ less!

1 Star Many Samsungs Fail After 1+ Years
Do not buy a Samsung TV. My 40 inch Samsung LCD lasted just a little over 2 years. According to multiple internet sites

Samsung built a bunch of LCD TV’s with bad capacitors that fail after a year or more (right after warranty is over).

You can do a simple Google search and find many people who have had the same problems. After a year or two, the TV’s

no longer turn on. Samsung has been made aware of this issue, but refuses to correct the problem. There are multiple

sites that even tell you exactly how the problem is corrected. I am sure the number of people with this problem will

increase as time goes by. Even with the extended warranty, it is not worth the hassle of buying a large TV from a

company that does not support its products. I did a lot of research before choosing a Samsung, but since it was

early in the production cycle, the problem did not appear. Don’t take a chance, get another brand.

We got this Samsung 40″ LCD to replace our 10 year old TV. Wow. We love everything about it. It’s very elegant and looks great in the living room. It’s thin, so you get more space in a crammed NYC apartment. The picture is superb! Love it
