User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Great device!
I think it’s a great product. Easy to install and to use. There only two things that I think should be improved: On settings menu, you should be able to change the color of the subtitles (it could be fixed throught a future firmware, I guess), and the second thing: the 2 USB ports are too far apart from each other: both should be only in the back of the device. My external HD needs 2 USB to work, and with the standard dual USB cable I cann’t connect both at the same time (I solved this using a USB extension cable).

Apart that, it’s a great product, and solve the problem of need to bring the laptop to the room every time I want to see a movie or picture.

4 Stars my review
i got this in order to download movies etc and watch them on my tv. it works great, i wish the menus function was better, i watch a lot of tv series and it doesn’t tell me which episodes I have already viewed, so sometimes i end up starting and episode and realizing I have already watched it, sometimes its kinda slow in response to pressing buttons (play or enter)… but this might be lag on my external HD ( not sure )

4 Stars Both Good and Not So Good Features
I own a number of media devices from Neuros OSD Media Center (6011000) to the Seagate FreeAgent Theater HD Media Player so I have a good idea of what features I like on media players.

Here’s some pros and cons for this one:

1. Two USB ports for attaching external hard drives which is good, but no internal or neatly connected (like the Seagate FreeAgent Theatre) external storage.

2 The WD TV Media Player does not have a networking capability– apparently there is a more recent version that does can be networked.

3. The interface is the equal of any of the other media players and it also plays MKV files. This is a very rare feature. MKV files are a nuisance to transcode. It also plays VOB files. (Dependent of course on no DRM being in place.) The WD TV Media will not play iTunes
