4 Stars Does what it’s designed to do…
DTV signal reception is highly direction-dependent. The literature in the box gave me the weblinks to figure out where to point the antenna in my neighborhood to receive the most stations. I am receiving all stations within a 30 degree cone of the current antenna target. Two stations are 80 degrees and 190 degrees out, so I will not receive them with the current static set-up. I had the choice of either installing an antenna rotator, or another antenna. For the price and reception quality of this antenna, I decided to go with another unit to receive PBS, routed through a signal mixer; works like a charm.

Works great and looks good very sleek high tec . Does not stick out ugly like our old one.
5 Stars Goodbye DirecTV!
When I saw how much per month I was paying with DirecTV, I decided see how I could cut that bill. Living close to New York, I saw this antenna and great reviews (thank you reviewers!)
Well, I cancelled DirecTV and used their dish mount to mount this antenna and orient it to about 80 degrees (thank you antennaweb). I have Windows 7 on an old Dell Dimension 4550 with 1MB RAM… but this brought that back to life with an EyeTV hybrid tweaked to appear as a Hauppauge HVR USB.
Seeing that I get 43 channels now.. some I don’t care for, some I love like CW, FOX, ABC, NBC, CBS all in HD plus my affiliates in NJ and NY… this rocks. All are in very clear (I mean digital cable good since they fall into 11.1, 7.1, 4.1, etc on ATSC lineup).
Easy to install… just when connecting the backplate onto the dish… use a power driver not a hand screwdriver!
2 Stars Good UHF, terrible VHF
The UHF reception with this antenna is excellent, but I get better low end VHF from a set of radio shack rabbit ears.
2 Stars Poor contruction, incremental signal benefit over indoor antenna
I installed this antenna in the fall. I hooked it up and walked around the house with it to find the best spot. The best spot gave me better reception than my powered bunny ears, but only by a little. One major channel still didn’t always come in.
Over the winter, the top part of the plastic cover popped off. This created a trap for water and ice as the bottom part hinged outwards. By the spring, the whole cover had fallen off. Reception is a tiny bit better without the cover, and friends say it looks cool to see the actual antenna, but I don’t know if it’s going to survive another winter. It’s too high to re-attach.
The other thing I’m not super happy about is the size of this Antenna. It’s a lot bigger than the picture and a name like “slim” would suggest. I suppose the dimensions are available, so you can see for yourself.
