1 Star Failed at 3 months
First, the LCD TV screen went dead after only 3 months . People on the internet say it is because of Samsung supplier changing capacitors quality in the power supply. Then I could not return and replace at Walmart where I bought it. Then after navigating the difficult service request web pages on the Samsung site, I finally put in my credit card number for shipping costs back to the service center 200 miles away, and their server froze and did not complete the transaction. Now I do not know if the service request went through and I will get the shipping label I paid for, or if I have to start over and go through the whole process again. I think it is time to take this to the people, and write some poor reviews on the web. Shame on you Samsung!
5 Stars Ususal Samsung quality
This HDTV has the usual quality of most Samsung TV’s. I have several other Samsung HDTV’s and this one continues to hold my confidence in their product. Excellent picture and good sound.
4 Stars The price was right for this TV
I like this LCD TV. The picture and sound are nice and clear. But unless you sit right in front of the TV, you’ll see some kind of faded pictures. Also, don’t try to use 50 foot composite video cable if your TV is 50 ft away from your STB/DVD because what you’ll see is a poor picture. Use component video cables if you can afford. Don’t use CAT6 to make component video cables; they won’t work at least for this TV. I made three 50 ft component video cables using telephone cables, and they work fine. Good luck.
1 Star Many Samsungs Fail after 1-2 years.
Do not buy a Samsung TV. My 40 inch Samsung LCD lasted just a little over 2 years. According to multiple internet sites
Samsung built a bunch of LCD TV’s with bad capacitors that fail after a year or more (right after warranty is over).
You can do a simple Google search and find many people who have had the same problems. After a year or two, the TV’s
no longer turn on. Samsung has been made aware of this issue, but refuses to correct the problem. There are multiple
sites that even tell you exactly how the problem is corrected. I am sure the number of people with this problem will
increase as time goes by. Even with the extended warranty, it is not worth the hassle of buying a large TV from a
company that does not support its products. I did a lot of research before choosing a Samsung, but since it was
early in the production cycle, the problem did not appear. Don’t take a chance, get another brand.
4 Stars Solid Performer
I purchased the Samsung LN26b360 new from Amazon because I have two other, larger Samsung LCD digital TVs and I like the brand. This one, with its 26 inch screen is the largest that will fit in a nice cherry entertainment center that I purchased 20 years ago and was made for the older CRT TVs. The Samsung was easy to set up right out of the box, its digital HD and SD pictures are crisp and clear, and it is lightweight. I have a UHF/VHF antenna on the roof and use that with the Samsung’s ATSC tuner to get more than 26 local channels. Then simply by switching to NTSC channel 3, I use it to watch the various channels available on my Dish Network satellite box and delivered to the Samsung via an NTSC modulator. (I watch the Dish network HD channels on the larger Samsung through an HDMI connection, and could use the LN26B’s HDMI connection if I wanted to). My only complaint is that the sound quality is a mite tinny, and not as rich as on the larger Samsungs. It really doesn’t matter, however, since I have routed the sound output from the back of the LN26B to the stereo amplifier input of my sound system — also located in the Cherry entertainment center, and listen to the TV sound through the stereo system.
This is an excellent TV value for the money. I recommend it highly.
